Dormitory out of use till 30-12-2021

Dear Students and fellow Coordinators,

the summer break period at our University is used for renovation works, which are to significantly facilitate studying and improve the comfort of staying at the University for students. Therefore, we decided to thoroughly renovate the PUSS in Piła Student Dormitory, so as to adapt it to the requirements and wishes of students - including Erasmus Students. The comfort of people studying in Piła is very important to us, which is why the University Authorities decided to carry out extensive renovation works in the Dormitory (including replacement of the plumbing and part of the electrical network), renovation of the rooms and reducing the number of students in the room to improve the conditions.

The renovation works have been scheduled for the period 1 July 2021 – 20 September 2021 and have started according to plan and should have ended at the beginning of September leaving us a nice safety margin to take care of any minor issues. Unfortunately, last week, during the renovation works, significant technical defects of the building were revealed, which completely disable our Student Dormitory until they have been fully removed. As a result of consultations with the general contractor supervising the renovation and involved subcontractors it has been determined that the necessary renovation and construction works will most probably take until end of this year. For the whole period our dormitory has to be closed and out of use.

We are currently inquiring for alternative accommodation possibilities. However, considering the current situation on the Piła real estate and long-term rental market, we have to ask you to reconsider your decision to come to Piła in the summer semester (starting February) instead of in the winter semester of this academic year.
