ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Fulbright Program is the flagship of international educational exchange program of the U.S. government. For many the most prestigious exchange program in the world, with reputation going beyond the academic environment.

For over 75 years, the Fulbright Program has supported cooperation for the development of science, culture, and interpersonal, as well as inter-institutional relations between the United States and over 160 countries.

The Fulbright Program in Poland is sponsored jointly by the Polish Ministry of Education and Science and the U.S. Department of State. The project would not be possible without close partnerships with Polish and American higher education institutions and the support of the donors.

Funding from the Polish state budget received in 2020 amounts to 5 120 000 PLN.

WHAT'S A FULBRIGHT GRANT?

The Fulbright Program is primarily purely practical: it finances the study visits of Polish students, researchers and academic teachers to the U.S. and supports their promising projects, and ambitions. The other ideological dimension states that the exchange of knowledge and skills serves an even greater purpose than the advancement of learning. According to the vision of the initiator of the Program, the American Senator J. William Fulbright, it is a tool for building dialogue and peaceful relations between nations. By bringing together the academic circles of different countries, we bring together whole societies.

Since the program works in two directions, U.S. researchers and experts have the opportunity to study or teach in Poland. As a result, many Polish academic and educational institutions, as well as non-governmental organizations, have the chance to invite specialists and lecturers from the U.S. to work with them on their projects.

Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers American academics, artists or professionals the opportunity to lecture and/or conduct research at Polish institutions, within 3 to 10 months.

Proposals are welcome from candidates in all disciplines. Within the Program, the scholar  carries out lectures and other obligations, previously jointly-agreed with the host institution and/or Fulbright Commission.

ETA – English Teaching Assistant Program

Fulbright English Teaching Assistant is a program for Polish universities interested in hosting a native speaker, who would carry out English language courses. While his 9-month stay in the Polish institution (October-June), the Fulbright ETAs assists the Polish lecturers and/or carry the lectures independently. Depending on the needs of host institution, the lectures might be either from general or technical English language, carried out up to 14 hours per week.

Fulbright scholars are native English speakers with knowledge and experience in many fields. They graduated from the top American Universities. Their openness and willingness to gain experience and develop teaching skills enables the exchange of good academic practice. Apart from assisting and independent teaching, Fulbright ETAs are actively involved in non-academic activities, such as conferences, workshops, debate clubs, drama classes, lectures on history and culture of the USA, advising people interest in studying in the United States or finding an internship within Work&Travel.
